When I regret not resubscribing
The last year I’ve been on a “crusade” to get rid of subscriptions and it’s generally been a good thing. It’s always a good thing to take a look at finances and remove spending that you don’t really need. But then there are the subscriptions that I end up regretting not continuing with…
In some cases the regret is due to having been on a grandfathered pricing tier, wanting to fiddle with whatever the service/app is, and then having to pay more. This happened to me with Readwise. It’s why I keep my subscription to the Bear app because at $14.95/year it’s not worth worrying about (Readwise however was $79/year when I first got it).
In other cases the price hasn’t changed but I just…miss the app/service. That’s the case for Tower. I use git and GitHub a lot, mostly in my day job, but also for personal projects. I let my subscription to Tower lapse because I already paid for Fork which is also a very capable git client and it was a one-time payment. But I miss using Tower and it was just ingrained into my development workflow.
So that’s why I’m resubscribing to Tower as soon as I finish this post and get back to work. $69/year for a tool I use every single day, many times per day, isn’t worth worrying about if I can afford it, which I can. Hi again Tower! 😆
